Iberostar Playa Gaviotas Park

A family friendly place, service personal that is always smiling and keeping everything clean, delicious food. The beach is really beautiful, just a small walk away (300m). Some rooms could use a renovation (which I heard should take place in winter 2023/24) and the lunch room can get pretty noisy, but other than that, I can really recommend staying here.

Short description: - Very old hotel with prehistoric furniture - Cleanliness could be better (read the story below) - Light animation, adult show = kids show + Friendly employees; special Greetings to Christian and Eva (bar) and Elina and Viktor (reception) + Delicious food and good/qualitative drinks + Paradise beach Location: Distance from airport took us 2 hours with a bus (with good air condition). However, a trip with two children 2 and 4 was not so easy. In 2 weeks, we went every day to the fantastic beach (walking 10-15 min). Price for beach loungers is 4,5 Euro per day per piece and in hotel free. There is a small shopping center round 20 min walking, where you can buy for example sunscreen cream for fair prices. Check in: In the evening there was no problem with check in, maybe because of champagne we were served :p Everything what you need you can borrow/lend from hotel, for example towel – 20 Euro deposit, children’s pot – 10 Euro deposit. Room: We had a Family Room with a pool side view and really prehistoric furniture. 2 Rooms were enough large for us. There is also a small kitchen in the room including stove, sink, microwave and small refrigerator, which we is really helpful with kids. 2 beds in the bedroom were not fixed together, so we asked reception to fix it together. Entertainment: Animation program repeats roughly every 10 days. In Iberostar App you can find this program. Shows for adults were boring for us. Almost all entertainment starts always late, at least 10-15 minutes. Food and drink: We liked the food in the main restaurant, because there were variety of different meals even for veggies. Every day in the week was some national cuisine introduced, such as Mexican, Italian, BBQ or Asian. Throughout the day you can find some drinks (water, coke, juices, beer, tea, coffee) in a truck in pool. For other drinks you can walk to restaurant (close to pools), where you can mix some cocktails with premium spirits yourself. What we didn’t like in the hotel were water(taste), tea and coffee. Hotel: I guess one of the oldest hotel in Fuerteventura which needs to be renovated. Staff in hotel was really friendly, and always wanted to help you. Cleanliness: One day a kid didn’t have enough time to go to the toilet and did his job in the pool. Well, that’s could happen! So the pool was closed for one day until they cleaned it with chemicals and next day it was already open. After that we didn’t want to go to the pools. In my opinion they had to empty the pool, clean it and the fill it with fresh water. However that didn’t happen and they probably saved the time, money.

We stayed here for 10 days in August/Sept. It was brilliant for our kids (we have an 8, 6 and almost 4 Yr old) the swimming pools were very nice. The staff are great, especially the entertainment team, who were amazing with both adults and children. Plenty of food choice at each seating throughout the day and everyday had a different theme. The rooms were basic but clean and tidy. The location is OK, Morro Jable is roughly a 10 min drive (roughly 7 euros).
